Project Management Traditional Approach

The traditional approach includes the classical or ancient way of the project management. They are broadly classified into sub points as follows:

Project Initiation (Kick-off)

Project Initiation can be termed as the beginning point for the projects. It is rightly said that if the beginning is good the end is always good. Hence project initiation should be handled with great care for having good results at the end phase. The initial stage for all the projects is the Project Initiation.

Project Planning

Project planning includes pre defining the work of project management. It gives the flow of work to be done. Project planning is done only by the project manager. Since a time limit is associated with every project planning is needed to complete the task in a pre set period.

Planning here is done for the task allocation, guesstimation, budgeting, time scheduling, resources utilization, etc…

Project Production Or Execution

The project execution should always aim at achieving the goals and objectives. Execution includes the implementation of the project planning. The project production/execution is always visual. The effective planning leads to effective project production. Thus project planning and production are inter-related.

Project Monitoring Or Controlling

Once the project planning of a project is done, which is an important concept monitoring and controlling the work done is essential. Monitoring means having an overview of the project and controlling means having a grip on the activities of project management. The main task here includes the project inception report.

The work of monitoring and controlling is done by the project manager. His task is mainly to define the features that are to be measured and estimated. It reveals the actual value of performance of the project.

Project Completion

Project completion can be defined as the achieving of the goals which are pre-defined in the project management of a project. It is the final stage of the project.

The completion of the project includes some of the essential characteristics. They are:

1. All the goals or targets of the project should be achieved.
2. The work under done is recorded so that it can be implemented for future projects.
3. Realize the success achieved.
